I'm Sam Koushan, and I founded Samshots in 2010 as one of the first studios in the DC area to bring photography and DSLR videography and cinematography together in one wedding-day experience. Since then, we've won a Best of The Knot award, earned a 4.9-star rating from couples on The Knot, and been ranked #1 on WeddingRule's list of the Best Wedding Videographers in Washington, DC. Our work has been featured in Brides, The Knot, Weddings, Glamour, Marie Claire, and Modern Luxury Weddings DC. We're proud to be a preferred photography and videography team at some of the DC area's most sought-after luxury venues, including The Bellevue, the Ritz-Carlton, the Willard InterContinental, and the Fairmont, and I've had the privilege of teaching wedding and portrait photography at the Washington School of Photography. Almost all of our business today still comes from referrals and repeat clients — the kind of track record no award can replace.
Our commercial and corporate work has included projects for clients such as Visa, Salesforce, Johnson & Johnson, Verizon Media, AIS, and the Ritz-Carlton.
Behind every wedding is a full creative team: four photographers and four videographers, each bringing their own artistic eye to your day, supported by two video editors and a photo editor who carefully craft every final image and film. Our office manager keeps it all running smoothly behind the scenes, so every detail is handled with care from booking to delivery.
To me, this has been the best career decision I've ever made, and I have zero regrets. Along the way I've met truly amazing couples — many of whom have become lifelong friends — and I love that we get to share in their stories and adventures long after the wedding day ends. It's not unusual for me to photograph a couple's wedding and then, a few years later, get to photograph their growing family, and getting to witness that has been one of the best parts of this job.
Being trusted to capture memories for incredible people has been the most humbling, rewarding part of my life. It's an honor every single time to witness and celebrate a couple's marriage.
